Alarm and security functions
What is a protective cover in Homematic IP?
Perimeter protection refers to the monitoring of a house's or apartment's doors and windows to detect unauthorized entry. Only sensors monitoring the outer perimeter, such as door and window sensors, are activated. In the standard configuration, no sensors monitoring the interior, such as motion sensors, are used. This allows residents to move freely within the apartment; an alarm will be triggered as soon as the outer perimeter is breached.
The perimeter protection allows potential intruders to be detected and deterred early, helping to minimize the risk of break-ins and increase security. Therefore, the perimeter protection should always be active with your alarm system, unless you want to air out the room or go into the garden.
Tip: If you have opened a window for ventilation, you can activate perimeter protection. This way, you only lose monitoring for that one window or door; the others will continue to be monitored for unauthorized opening.
Tip 2: Information on setting up an alarm system with Homematic IP can be found here..
