With the software update, the Smart Energy 250 can also record consumption data from electricity meters that use older protocols. The update is usually installed automatically. The FRITZ!Box checks every 48 hours, and also immediately after a restart, for new firmware for DECT devices and installs it automatically. If you don't want to wait, you can also manually initiate the update in the FRITZ!Box web interface under "Smart Home" in the "Devices and Groups" section and specifically update the firmware of the Smart Energy 250 there.

The FRITZ!Smart Energy 250 digitally measures electricity consumption and feed-in via infrared directly at the electricity meter and transmits the data to the FRITZ!Box via DECT ULE. The collected data can be conveniently accessed in the FRITZ!Box interface, the FRITZ!App Smart Home, or via MyFRITZ!Net, where it can be stored long-term if desired. Owners of photovoltaic systems especially benefit from this solution, as they can keep track of their feed-in, self-consumption, and potential peak loads at any time.
