SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro: Cordless Fan with Filter and Matter over Wi-Fi

With the SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro, the manufacturer is launching a new cordless fan just in time for the height of summer. The device is designed not only to provide a fresh breeze but also to distribute the air as evenly as possible throughout the room with its horizontal and vertical oscillation. It also features a built-in battery, a washable pre-filter, and Matter over Wi-Fi.

SwitchBot has primarily improved the features of the new model. The fan can be integrated directly into a smart home via Matter over Wi-Fi without an additional hub, is said to produce only 21 dB of noise at its lowest setting, and can run for up to 70 hours on one battery charge. At €119.99, however, it is not exactly an inexpensive summer companion.

Air circulation instead of direct airflow

The Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro is more of an air circulator than a conventional desk fan. Rather than blowing air only at the person directly in front of it, it is intended to keep the air moving throughout the entire room. This can be useful together with an air conditioner in summer and also helps distribute warm air from the heating system more effectively in winter.

The fan head swivels horizontally and vertically by up to 90 degrees in each direction. In turbo mode, SwitchBot specifies a maximum air speed of 6.5 meters per second and airflow of up to 477 CFM. The airflow is said to reach as far as 33.5 meters. According to the manufacturer, the device is suitable for rooms with an area of up to around 50 square meters. How well this works naturally also depends on the room layout and where the fan is placed.

Up to 70 hours without a power outlet

Thanks to the built-in battery, the fan does not have to remain next to a power outlet. Its carrying handle makes it easy to move from the home office to the bedroom or balcony. At the lowest setting, it is said to provide up to 70 hours of operation. Anyone using turbo mode will need to recharge it much sooner.

Charging is handled via USB-C. Alternatively, the fan can be operated directly from its power adapter or a suitable power bank. It continues to run while charging. For continuous daily use, most people will probably still leave it connected to power; the battery is particularly useful whenever no outlet is available in the desired location.

The device can also be used outdoors, but only in dry conditions. The fan should not be exposed to rain, as SwitchBot does not specify any protection against water ingress.

Air filter, yes; air purifier, no

A noticeable new feature is located at the rear: a removable pre-filter. It catches hair and larger dust particles before they are drawn through the device. According to SwitchBot, the filter does not need to be replaced. Washing it regularly is sufficient, with cleaning recommended every two to four weeks.

However, it should not be described as an air purifier. This is not a HEPA filter designed to remove fine dust or pollen from the room air. The filter mainly retains coarser dirt. Those who do not need it can also operate the fan without the filter. This may even offer advantages: SwitchBot notes that the filter can slightly restrict airflow and increase noise levels.

The filter, rotor blades, and front and rear covers can be removed for cleaning. The motor and device base should, of course, never be placed under running water.

Aroma pad and small night light

In addition to the filter, SwitchBot has included two smaller extras. An aroma cartridge sits in the center of the fan. A few drops of a suitable fragrance oil can be placed on the pad inside, after which the scent is distributed throughout the room with the airflow. It is certainly not a reason to buy the fan, but some users may appreciate the addition.

The base also contains a subtle light that can be used as a night light, for example. A display shows the current power level and battery charge. The fan is controlled using the buttons on the device, the included remote control, the SwitchBot app, or the connected smart home system.

Matter connectivity without a SwitchBot Hub

SwitchBot has taken a sensible step with smart home connectivity. The Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro supports Matter directly over Wi-Fi, so a separate SwitchBot Hub is no longer required. According to the manufacturer, the device can be connected to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant, among others.

In Home Assistant the fan could, for example, start automatically as soon as a temperature sensor reports more than 26 degrees. Schedules, a quiet night mode, or automatic shutoff when nobody is home are also conceivable.

SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro: price and assessment

The SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro launches at €119.99 and is expected to ship in Europe from August 2026. It is available in white and black.

This makes it more expensive than a conventional desk fan. In return, it offers a battery, horizontal and vertical oscillation, Matter, a washable pre-filter, and several small convenience features. Direct Matter connectivity makes the new model particularly interesting for Home Assistant users because no additional SwitchBot Hub is required.

Our experience with the SwitchBot USB desk fan also shows that the predecessor is barely audible during operation. This makes it particularly suitable for use in the bedroom on warm nights.
