IKEA DUBBELKISEL: New Matter over Thread LED Driver

With IKEA DUBBELKISEL, a new smart 24-volt LED driver for kitchen, cabinet and furniture lighting is approaching its market launch in additional countries. The 30-watt model uses Matter over Thread and is considered a possible successor to the previous TRÅDFRI LED driver. IKEA Poland already lists DUBBELKISEL as a new product and has announced an official price for the first time.

An LED driver is certainly not a smart home device that will later be visible in the living room. It usually disappears behind a cabinet or on top of the kitchen units. Nevertheless, DUBBELKISEL is interesting: instead of having to replace individual lights, the driver is designed to make an entire group of integrated LED lights switchable and dimmable.

What is the IKEA DUBBELKISEL LED driver?

DUBBELKISEL is a smart LED driver for integrated lighting such as that offered by IKEA for kitchens, wardrobes, shelving units and display cabinets. The device converts the 220 to 240 volt mains supply into 24 volt direct current for connected LED lights.

The DUBBELKISEL listed in the Polish IKEA online store delivers a maximum of 30 watts and is dimmable. Together with the DIRIGERA hub and the IKEA Home smart app, users can control the lighting and create timers and scenes.

The required FÖRNIMMA power cord is not included. As with the previous TRÅDFRI driver, it must be purchased separately.

Why Matter over Thread matters for the IKEA smart home

The key difference compared with the previous TRÅDFRI generation is the wireless standard. According to the Thread Group certification database, the DUBBELKISEL product family supports Thread 1.4 and Matter. IKEA’s official product page confirms Matter compatibility.

This means the IKEA LED driver is not tied exclusively to the IKEA Home smart app. In principle, it can also work with other Matter systems. Matter over Thread does, however, require a Thread Border Router. The DIRIGERA hub can perform this role.

DUBBELKISEL is therefore another building block in IKEA’s transition from Zigbee to Matter over Thread. This new generation already includes the smart KAJPLATS, various sensors such as KLIPPBOK, remote controls and the Matter smart plug GRILLPLATS .

IKEA DUBBELKISEL and Home Assistant

Direct integration with Home Assistant is possible via Matter over Thread. This requires a working Matter integration and a Thread Border Router*. We have not yet conducted our own hands-on test with DUBBELKISEL, so the exact range of functions available in Home Assistant remains to be seen.

IKEA DUBBELKISEL: price and market launch in Germany

IKEA Poland lists the DUBBELKISEL 30W for 110 złoty. The Polish price cannot be transferred directly to Germany, but it indicates that IKEA does not intend to position the new Matter LED driver above the previous model.

For comparison, the TRÅDFRI LED driver with 30 watts costs €25 at IKEA Germany at the time of this article.

A German DUBBELKISEL product page could not yet be found on August 12, 2026. A specific release date and retail price for Germany therefore remain open.
