IKEA recently introduced the TIMMERFLOTTE temperature and humidity sensor. An over-the-air (OTA) firmware update is now available. The update from firmware version 1.0.18 to version 1.0.21 can be performed directly via Home Assistant.

Update notification directly in Home Assistant
After integrating IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE into Home Assistant, a notification about an available new firmware version appeared in the device section. Our sensor initially had version 1.0.18 installed. Home Assistant then offered the OTA update to version 1.0.21. The update was completed entirely within the Home Assistant interface.
How the OTA update from version 1.0.18 to 1.0.21 went
The update process was as follows:
- Select the TIMMERFLOTTE sensor in the device overview
- Display the available update from version 1.0.18 to 1.0.21
- Start the OTA update via the Home Assistant interface
- Automatic transfer and installation of the firmware
During the update, the sensor was briefly unavailable. Once complete, the device automatically reconnected to Home Assistant. The update finished without interruption or error messages and took only a few minutes.
After updating to firmware version 1.0.21, Home Assistant continued to display all the familiar information. The setup used a Raspberry Pi together with the Aqara Smart Hub M200, which served as a Thread border router.

Note on changes introduced by the update
At present, no detailed information is available about changes or improvements in firmware version 1.0.21. We did not observe any visible functional changes during our test either. We will update this article as soon as further information becomes available.
