The Aqara Outdoor Plug H2 EU is a smart plug for outdoor use. It is suitable for garden lighting, pond pumps or holiday decorations. In addition to remote control, the model also offers integrated energy monitoring.
Aqara uses several wireless standards, allowing the outdoor plug to be integrated flexibly into different smart home systems.
Dual protocol support: Thread and Zigbee in one device
A key feature of the new outdoor plug is its support for two wireless standards. Users can choose whether to operate the device via Matter over Thread or Zigbee.
Matter over Thread: Enables direct integration into popular ecosystems such as Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa or SmartThings, provided that a suitable Thread Border Router is available, such as the Aqara Hub M3* or the more affordable Aqara Smart Hub M200*.
Zigbee mode: When connected to an Aqara Zigbee hub, all advanced configuration options in the Aqara Home app are available. The protocol can also be changed at any time later.
High switching capacity and IP44 splash protection
The housing is protected to IP44 against splashing water and solid objects larger than one millimetre. This makes the smart outdoor plug suitable for typical locations such as gardens, balconies and patios.
Its switching capacity is equally impressive: the maximum switching current is 16 A, resulting in a maximum connected load of 3,680 W.
This means that devices with higher energy requirements can also be connected, including electric grills, patio heaters and larger pond pumps. The power ratings of the connected device and the manufacturer’s instructions should, of course, always be observed.
Energy monitoring, safety features and LED indicator
In addition to its switching function, the plug offers integrated energy monitoring. Electricity consumption is recorded in real time and can be evaluated in daily and monthly overviews. The measured power values can also be used as triggers for automations, for example to send a notification when an e-bike has finished charging.
Several protection mechanisms provide the necessary safety:
Status LED: An integrated indicator shows the operating status. Aqara offers the model in two versions: a standard version with a multicolour LED and an RGB version (SP-P06D), whose colour indicator can be adjusted to display the current power consumption visually.
Overload and overheating protection: The device switches off automatically in the event of an overload or when the housing temperature reaches 80 °C.
Child lock: The physical button on the housing can be locked to prevent accidental switching on site. Control via the app, voice commands or automations remains active.
