IKEA significantly lowers prices for new Matter smart home devices

IKEA’s new Matter-compatible smart home devices have only recently hit the market—yet the furniture giant has already implemented a noticeable price drop. This is particularly noteworthy given that the products were considered comparatively affordable even at launch.

IKEA pleasantly surprised many smart home enthusiasts with the launch of its new generation of devices, including the MYGGBETT door and window sensor and the TIMMERFLOTTE temperature and humidity sensor. The low entry-level prices attracted particular attention, as the devices rely on the open Matter standard, making them compatible across different systems.

Now, however, another price adjustment has followed—this time downwards. At launch, the retail price for the TIMMERFLOTTE sensor was €9.99 (as we previously reported). Shortly thereafter, it was reduced to €7.99, representing a price cut of around 20 percent. The price of the Matter-compatible MYGGBETT door and window sensor was also lowered from the original €9.99 to €7.99.

According to current information, the price reduction affects around 20 newly introduced smart home products from IKEA’s lineup. This indicates that the company is pursuing its smart home strategy with a long-term, consistent approach. The aggressive pricing strategy is evidently intended to attract more users to the Matter standard.

With their reduced prices, Matter-enabled IKEA devices are increasingly positioning themselves as a serious alternative to established smart home systems such as Homematic IP, Aqara, and comparable providers. This could make the offering significantly more attractive, especially for budget-conscious newcomers.
