Aqara FP300 erklärt: Smart-Home-Präsenzmelder mit Zigbee, Thread & Matter

Aqara FP300 Explained: Presence Sensor with Zigbee, Thread & Matter

Aqara EN News EN

The Aqara FP300 is a wireless 5-in-1 presence sensor with mmWave, PIR, light, temperature and humidity detection. It uses advanced technology to detect presence precisely, measure ambient conditions and trigger smart automations. With support for Zigbee, Thread and Matter, it is compatible with the leading smart-home platforms and can be integrated flexibly into existing systems.

Technical highlights & features

Precise presence detection

The sensor combines a passive infrared (PIR) sensor with 60 GHz mmWave radar to detect both movement and stationary presence reliably, even when a person is barely moving. Its detection range extends to around 6 m with a 120° field of view, making it ideal for typical living spaces. Integrated AI helps the sensor filter out common interference such as slight movements from curtains or pets.

5-in-1 sensing

In addition to presence detection, the sensor provides other readings, including ambient light for lighting control, temperature for comfort and heating automations, and humidity for monitoring air quality.
All these values enable smart automations, for example: “If presence is detected and brightness is < 400 lux, turn on the light” or “If presence is detected and temperature is > 28 °C, activate the air conditioner.”

Flexible wireless protocols & compatibility

The sensor supports both Zigbee and Thread/Matter, so it can be integrated into a wide range of ecosystems: Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa and SmartThings. Zigbee mode provides additional settings in the Aqara Home app ecosystem, such as detection range, enabling or disabling individual sensors, and measurement frequency.

Battery power & flexible installation

The sensor runs on two CR2450 coin cells and requires no power cable. According to the manufacturer, battery life can reach up to 3 years in Zigbee mode and up to 2 years in Thread mode, depending on use and settings. This makes flexible placement on a wall, ceiling or even a magnetic surface possible.

Aqara FP300 use cases & everyday benefits

  • Lighting automations: Movement or presence activates lights without using a switch, ideal for hallways, living rooms and utility spaces.
  • Energy efficiency: Combined with temperature and humidity sensing, heating or ventilation can operate only when actually needed: presence + temperature > X ⇒ activate heating.
  • More comfort & less effort: No cabling is required, installation is flexible and AI optimisation reduces false alarms.
  • Compatibility & future readiness: Matter and Thread support prepare the device for emerging smart-home standards.
  • Flexible placement: Thanks to battery power, the sensor can be installed almost anywhere and is not tied to a socket or mains cable.

Conclusion

The FP300 offers an impressive combination of presence detection, environmental sensing, flexible wireless integration and cable-free installation, all in a compact enclosure. Anyone looking to take their smart home to the next level benefits from strong functionality and future compatibility. Its battery-powered design and support for Matter and Thread make it a particularly attractive option for modern smart homes.
