IKEA has released a new firmware update for its smart KLIPPBOK water leak sensor: version 1.0.11 is now also available through Home Assistant and can be installed directly from the dashboard. The water leak sensor is based on the open Matter standard, is compact and easy to install, and has already become popular with many users for monitoring critical areas such as beneath sinks, washing machines or heating systems.

What is new in IKEA KLIPPBOK firmware 1.0.11?

The new firmware version 1.0.11 is the version currently certified by the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) for the KLIPPBOK sensor. The update is therefore available through the official channels and is delivered via the Matter standard.

Compared with the previous version 1.0.7, update 1.0.11 may mainly include:

  • General stability and reliability improvements
  • Improved compatibility with smart home hubs and Matter ecosystems
  • Potentially more stable connectivity and possibly lower power consumption

IKEA has not yet published any official information about the firmware update that provides specific details on the included improvements. Neither the IKEA product page, Matter documentation nor a public changelog contains detailed information about the changes in version 1.0.11.

The currently available sources only confirm that firmware 1.0.11 is listed as the current version. Any assessment of the update’s actual contents can therefore only be based on community observations and user experience at this time.

Firmware update directly in Home Assistant

The firmware update can be started from the device overview in Home Assistant; the sensor must be connected and integrated first. As soon as an update is available, Home Assistant displays a notice about the new firmware version in the device area. Users can start the OTA (over-the-air) update directly from Home Assistant, just as they can with other Matter devices.

Some users report that the update notice initially appears as “not available” on certain devices. Re-pairing the sensor briefly or waiting a few hours often helps until the firmware status is detected correctly.
