IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE Update 1.2.2: These 4 Things Are Changing

A new firmware version for IKEA’s temperature and humidity sensor is available for testing. The IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE Update 1.2.2 brings Matter 1.5, Thread 1.4, and improvements to device stability. It also includes a minor addition to the device information. However, there is one thing you should know before installing it: the version is currently available through the testnet and is therefore still a test version.

We have already covered the TIMMERFLOTTE update to version 1.0.21 via Home Assistant. While no detailed release notes were available at the time, IKEA lists four specific changes for the new firmware.

What Does the IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE Update 1.2.2 Bring?

The list of changes is concise. According to IKEA, the firmware includes the following improvements:

• Matter 1.5: The sensor’s Matter implementation has been updated.
• Thread 1.4: The Thread version used by the sensor has also been updated.
• Improved device stability: IKEA lists general improvements for more stable operation.
• Serial number as a device attribute: The firmware adds an attribute for the sensor’s serial number.

The reference to improved stability will be particularly interesting to many users. Anyone using the sensor for ventilation reminders or other automations needs readings to be available reliably. However, the release notes do not specify which issues IKEA has fixed.

The serial number is now available as an attribute, making the device easier to identify. Whether it appears in your smart home interface depends on whether that platform supports it.

Version 1.2.2 Is Initially Available via the Testnet

IKEA added the new version to the testnet on September 22, 2026. As of this article’s publication on September 26, 2026, the regular release channel is still serving firmware 1.0.21.

For you, this means that if Home Assistant does not show a new update yet, nothing is necessarily wrong. A search for officially released firmware versions will not automatically pick up a testnet version.

There is currently no known date for the regular release of version 1.2.2. Anyone who relies on the sensor in everyday use and does not want to install test firmware can stay on the current version for now.

• A current version of Home Assistant running on suitable hardware, for example:
  • Raspberry Pi*

  • Aqara Smart Hub M200*
  • Home Assistant Connect ZBT-2* (recommended)
  • Amazon Echo Show 11*
  • Home Assistant Yellow*

• IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE sensor with AAA rechargeable batteries* installed
• Matter QR code or numerical pairing code (on the back of the sensor)
