Set Up IKEA MYGGBETT in Home Assistant

The IKEA MYGGBETT door and window sensor can be integrated directly into Home Assistant thanks to the open Matter standard. This means a traditional hub from IKEA or another manufacturer is not strictly required. Instead, the sensor communicates via Thread and is added to Home Assistant.

Set up IKEA MYGGBETT in Home Assistant

Adding Matter devices requires the Home Assistant Companion App on a smartphone because pairing is currently only possible through the app.

Open the Matter integration:
Settings → Add to Home Assistant → Add device → Add Matter device and select it.

Add the device:
New select → scan the QR code or enter the pairing code manually → Prepare setup

Select the Thread network:
If several Border Routers are available, select the desired Thread network. After a few seconds, MYGGBETT should appear as a new device.

The device information shows the firmware version, hardware version and connection type (Matter). The sensor tile displays the status “open” or “closed” according to the current sensor state. The door icon can be replaced with a window or a similar icon.

Under Configuration you can see whether the installed firmware version is up to date. In the Diagnostics section, the battery level in percent and the battery voltage are available. The battery type used (AAA) is also shown. In addition, the sensor can be assigned to automations, scenes or scripts. The Activity tile provides a history view.

Some parameters can be opened in detail and displayed as a chart or as an activity history over time.
