IKEA significantly reduces prices for new Matter smart home devices

IKEA's new Matter-enabled smart home devices have only recently become available in stores – yet the furniture giant has already implemented a significant price reduction. Even at launch, the products were considered relatively inexpensive.

With the introduction of the new generation of devices, including the MYGGBETT door and window sensor as well as the Temperature and humidity sensor TIMMERFLOTTE, IKEA's offerings had pleasantly surprised many smart home enthusiasts. The low entry-level prices, in particular, attracted attention, as the devices are based on the open Matter standard and are therefore compatible across different systems.

However, another price adjustment is now following, this time downwards. The selling price for the TIMMERFLOTTE sensor was €9.99 at launch (we reportedShortly afterwards, the price was reduced to €7.99. This represents a price reduction of approximately 20 percent. The Matter-compatible door and window sensor MYGGBETT was also reduced in price from €9.99 to €7.99.

According to current information, the price reduction affects around 20 newly introduced smart home products from IKEA's range. This suggests that the company is pursuing its smart home strategy consistently and with a long-term perspective. The aggressive pricing is apparently intended to attract more users to the Matter standard.

With their reduced prices, IKEA's Matter-compatible devices are increasingly positioning themselves as a serious alternative to established smart home systems such as...
