SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro: Battery-powered fan with filter and Matter over Wi-Fi

Just in time for the height of summer, the manufacturer is launching the SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro, a new battery-powered fan. The device is designed not only to provide a refreshing breeze but also to distribute air evenly throughout the room thanks to its horizontal and vertical oscillation. It also features an integrated battery, a washable pre-filter, and Matter over Wi-Fi connectivity.

With the new model, SwitchBot has primarily focused on improving the features. The fan can be integrated directly into a smart home system via Matter over Wi-Fi without an additional hub, is said to be only 21 dB loud at its lowest setting, and lasts up to 70 hours on a single battery charge. However, at €119.99, it's not exactly a cheap summer companion.

Air circulation instead of direct airflow

The Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro is more of an air circulator than a traditional table fan. It's designed not just to blow air directly on the person in front of it, but to circulate the air throughout the entire room. This can be useful in summer when used with air conditioning, but it also helps to distribute warm air from heating systems more effectively in winter.

The fan head swivels horizontally and vertically by up to 90 degrees. In turbo mode, SwitchBot specifies a maximum air speed of 6.5 meters per second and an airflow of up to 477 CFM. The airflow is said to reach up to 33.5 meters. According to the manufacturer, the device is suitable for rooms with an area of up to approximately 50 square meters. Of course, how well it works depends on the room layout and the installation location.

Up to 70 hours without a power outlet

Thanks to its integrated battery, the fan doesn't need to be permanently plugged in. The carrying handle makes it easy to move from the study to the bedroom or onto the balcony. It should run for up to 70 hours on the lowest setting. Those using turbo mode will need to recharge much sooner.

Charging is done via USB-C. Alternatively, the fan can be powered directly from the power adapter or a suitable power bank. It continues to run even while charging. For daily, continuous use, however, you'll probably leave it plugged in most of the time – the battery is especially useful when there's no free power outlet at the desired location.

The device can also be used outdoors, but only in dry conditions. It should not be exposed to rain, as SwitchBot does not specify any protection against water ingress.

Air filter yes, air purifier no

A striking new feature is located on the back: a removable pre-filter. It traps hair and larger dust particles before they are drawn through the device. According to SwitchBot, the filter doesn't need to be replaced. Regular washing is sufficient; cleaning every two to four weeks is recommended.

It's not accurate to call this an air purifier. It's not a HEPA filter that specifically removes fine dust or pollen from the air. The filter primarily traps larger particles of dirt. If you don't need it, you can use the fan without the filter. This can even have advantages: SwitchBot points out that the filter can slightly restrict airflow and increase noise levels.

For cleaning, the filter, rotor blades, and front and rear covers can be removed. The motor and base of the unit should, of course, not be submerged in water.

Scented pad and small night light

In addition to the filter, SwitchBot has incorporated two smaller extras. An aroma cartridge is located in the center of the fan. A few drops of a suitable fragrance oil can be placed on the pad inside, which is then distributed throughout the room by the airflow. This is certainly not a reason to buy the product, but it could be a nice bonus for some users.

The base also features discreet lighting, which can be used as a nightlight, for example. A display shows the current power level and battery status. The fan can be operated via the buttons on the device, the included remote control, the SwitchBot app, or a connected smart home system.

Matter connection without SwitchBot Hub

SwitchBot has taken a sensible step towards smart home integration. The Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro supports Matter directly via Wi-Fi. A separate SwitchBot Hub is no longer required. According to the manufacturer, the device can be connected to Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings, and Home Assistant, among others.

In Home Assistant The fan could, for example, start automatically as soon as a temperature sensor registers more than 26 degrees. Schedules, a quiet night mode, or automatic shut-off when no one is home are also conceivable.

SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro: Price and Assessment

The SwitchBot Battery Circulator Fan 2 Pro starts at €119.99 and is expected to ship in Europe from August 2026. It will be available in white and black.

This makes it more expensive than a regular table fan. However, it comes with a battery, horizontal and vertical oscillation, Matter technology, a washable pre-filter, and several other convenient features. The direct Matter integration makes the new model particularly appealing to Home Assistant users, as it eliminates the need for an additional SwitchBot Hub.

Our experiences with the SwitchBot USB desk fan Furthermore, the results show that the predecessor is barely audible during operation. This makes it particularly suitable for use in the bedroom on warm nights.
