Update notification directly in Home Assistant
After integrating the IKEA TIMMERFLOTTE into Home Assistant, a notification about an available new firmware version appeared in the device section. Our sensor initially had version 1.0.18 installed. Home Assistant then offered an over-the-air (OTA) update to version 1.0.21. The update was subsequently completed entirely within the Home Assistant interface.
This is how the OTA update from version 1.0.18 to 1.0.21 went.
The update process proceeded as follows:
- Selecting the TIMMERFLOTTE sensor in the device overview
- Displaying the available update from version 1.0.18 to 1.0.21
- Starting the OTA update via the Home Assistant interface
- Automatic firmware transfer and installation
The sensor was briefly unreachable during the update. Once complete, the device automatically reconnected to Home Assistant. The update completed without interruption or error messages and took only a few minutes.
After updating to firmware version 1.0.21, Home Assistant continued to display all the familiar information. The setup used a Raspberry Pi in combination with the Aqara Smart Hub M200, which acted as a Thread boundary router.

At present, no detailed information is available regarding content changes or improvements in firmware version 1.0.21. No visible functional changes were observed during our testing either. We will update this article as soon as further information becomes available.
